In the news (3/9 – 3/15)

UPDATE: For sisters, if you are interested in joining us for the DimSum & SF FUN this Saturday, SIGN UP NOW!

UPDATE(2) FOR BROS: Ropes course got canceled — unfortunately, there was a scheduling conflict on their end. So now, we’re going to Vals (an awesome burger joint — Ryan can attest to this) for lunch and head back to Berkeley to play sports and then all study together. We’ll be meeting at the Channing-Bowditch parking lot at 11am. Please let Andy know if you’re interested in going!

I know that G-Live is right around the corner (under four weeks!), but we’ll still be doing a lot of fun stuff together! Check this out:

Brothers Ropes Course, Bonfire, Sports, Rockwall Climbing and more!!
Saturday, 11am @ Santa Cruz — Meet at parking lot across from Crossroads DC.

All-Kairos bros will be heading out to Santa Cruz for some bonding 70-80 feet above ground at a ropes course in Santa Cruz. Don’t worry, it’s totally safe with harnesses and safety equipment, but if you’re too chicken… haha. We will grab In-and-out on the way up, then play frisbee and football on the field there as well as go rock climbing.

BYOF Dinner & GTS
Friday, 6pm @ 1st Pres

We’ll be combining with all the Kairos groups this Friday for dinner. Please BYOF — bring your own food — and join us at the courtyard of 1st Pres at 6. We’ll then go to our GTS classes, followed by G-Live practice.

Sisters Dimsum & SF Trip
Saturday, 10:30am @ Annahead Parking Lot

Not to be outdone by the brothers, the sisters will be heading out to SF for some dimsum and other goodies this Saturday. If you’re interested in coming, please let Michelle know and meet at the Annahead Parking Lot (on Channing-Bowditch) at 10:30.

Northloop Church Cleaning
Saturday, 6pm

If you’ve ever used our facilities at Northloop, then you’ll notice that it’s always decently clean. That’s because each week, a particular ministry group is responsible for cleaning it. The beacon is lit, and this week, Kairos will answer the call! If you’d like to help out (and experience fellowship in the process), please let Michelle know. Oh, and dinner will be provided afterwards.

Sunday Worship Service
Sunday, 11:30am @ Willard Middle School

Join us in our weekly worship service!

Photos are up!

Oh man, Ultimately Frisbee and Pizza – that’s awesome! I’m so down — I hope to see a lot of people there, and hopefully we can outnumber the staff, because I don;t know if we can win on speed.

Hopefully we can all help with NL cleaning, it goes by a lot quicker if everyone pitches in – maybe we can go to In-N-Out after and get some burgers 😀 I’d be willing to drive there (*wink wink*)I guess if the beacons are lit, the riders of Kairos will answer -> our horses are in my hood ^^

Hope the sisters have fun in SF and Dim Sum.

wow, Robert gives the staff a lot of credit! Abe and Andy must have done much damage before…
For Sat., I believe dinner will be provided for those who come and clean! (sisters too, since they will be back by 3) But we can definitely make an IN-N-OUT milkshake run afterwards… It’ll taste that much better because Andy is not allowed to have any fast food!

Reminder for Joyland Open House this Sunday at 2pm, right after service and lunch.
I encourage everyone to come and check it out! Either you are considering to help out next year or not, it is REALLY fun to just come and have your Sunday brightened up by kids’ smiles, and see what our children’s ministry is like. Did I mention that you can also do exciting Joyland dances while you are there? =)

If you are interested, here’s the Joyland website.

This is for the sisters: If you are joining us for the DimSum & SF trip, we will be back around 3pm. However, if you want to stick around for church cleaning, bring your books and after the SF outing, we can study together until 6pm when we will head over to NL for church cleaning. Hope you guys can make it– it will be a great break after all those midterms!!

I would do some trash talking, but I don’t believe in that kind of stuff. I’m an encourager not a hater, not like a certain Kairos 2 sister staff that will not be named here. I think the students stand a really good chance at Pizza eating after ultimate frisbee! Don’t discount them before we meet Wednesday 🙂

On another note, thanks for uploading the pictures! See you all on Friday!

OH MY! Andy that is messed up, you shouldnt be talking about Jessica like that. Im gonna tell her you called her a hater…! Hey, Jessica, did you hear what Andy called you? Maybe we should all gang up against him 🙂

  6. March 10, 2009 at 6:31 pm

LOL you guys are so funny…But I have to agree Michelle. You are a little bit of a hater. And its rubbing off on me 😛

OH MY, Andy Tung doesn’t believe in trash-talking? I’ve walked into a parallel dimension.

Wow, you heard it here ladies and gentlemen, Michelle is rubbing off on Chanhee…. there’s a whole new tidal wave of haterade.

  8. March 11, 2009 at 2:44 pm

Please note that the Frisbee for today (Wednesday) has been CANCELLED! Instead, the bros will be going to Santa Cruz to scale some rocky walls and be hoisted up into the air, walking on nothing but rope that prevents you from hurling 70ft back down to earth. If you’re excited by that, then sign yourself up! If you’re scared, then what better way to battle such fears by facing them head on? Besides, you’ll have plenty of support from all around you. So what are you waiting for? Sign up!

Having taken the ropes course, I can say that it is an incredible exercise. Plus there is a special surprise at the end 😀

So I guess we won’t be able to help with NL cleaning if we go on this trip eh? Should probably let Michelle know…

Well, if you are able to stay over in Alameda on Friday night, you can join the bro staff as we do church cleaning in the morning. Don’t worry though, it won’t be too early! haha

Nice one michelle, but poor Jessica…
Michelle, I don’t know if I can go to SF. There’s a budgeting workshop at 2 pm … but I want to go clean NL. are there rides in the afternoon?

  12. March 11, 2009 at 10:24 pm

I want to go on the ropes course!

Don’t be jealous…why can’t that part of Michelle rub off (I know I know I actually complemented Michelle… the world is over, yeah yeah)

What time are the brothers going to NL to clean? I don’t know about sleeping in Alameda but I can go in the morning.

I think the cleaning will start at 10:30pm.
It might work out real nice if Rob you can come at that times while bringing some of the guys so that Andy and I can stay in NL and clean… cuz you know how much we love doing that…
But for any brother who wants to stay over on Friday, you are welcome to stay over at my place, and maybe we can cook up unhealthy midnight snacks around 2… =D

    You mean 10:30am?

Man! You can tell that Johnny is a [Editor: word deleted out of care for the offended party. hehe].

Midnight snack at 2am? Obviously the idiomatic use loses it power…
    “at that times”

❤ It’s not for your English that we love you.

I’ll ask Abe about it and set it up.

Val’s ehh… Ryan really seems to like it…but I’ll be the judge of that!
ooo~ sports? I wonder what we’re going to play… it’s a mystery sport haha, maybe we can discuss it over some delicious burgers.

Johnny Yang is a nice guy ^^

i like how it says “g-live is right around the corner, but we’ll still be doing a lot of fun stuff…” and then right after that, a huge paragraph is crossed out… and the following that apply to the guys are BYOF, and church cleaning. fun fun… not that val’s wasn’t great – it was…

    March 16, 2009 at 3:39 pm

What? Church cleaning is fun too man! You just don’t know. If you think you know what it’s like because of Y cleaning, you ain’t no nuttin’ yet.
And we played football after Vals, basketball before. Don’t be sad about the ropes course, next time. 😛
